So, do we think I should take a Glastonbury ticket at £170?

I think you know the answer. Read back over your last few LJ posts...

No, I think that's perfectly reasonable. However, yes, you really should avoid looking at the lineup. If you're in as much financial trouble as you've recently been describing, and I assume that you are, then going to Glastonbury (and the Proms) is not a sensible thing to do. Really.

in the context of my financial situation right now, 300 quid for the two feels as though it's neither here nor there

I know it's probably not my place to speak, but isn't that how one gets into these kinds of messes?

Well, if I were in the Sahara I think I'd be saving any raindrops that came along. :)

As someone who is also crap with money (but luckily doesn't have expensive tastes, and also possesses a joint account) I think you should practice enjoying the luxury of sacrifice. Think of it as asceticism, if that's a word. Plus, have you not already arranged to go to the tennis on Glastonbury weekend?

My tastes aren't expensive; I just have a compulsive buying habit. Why else would I continue to purchase books when I have about 250 of the damn things lying unread in my room?

Well, there's always this

Admittedly, you'll have to wait another four days, and it might go over the £160 mark, but it's looking all right at the moment.

There's a shed loads on there today - a lot more than yesterday. Apparently they've started arriving in bulk through the post finally, so everyone who has held off selling is sticking them up there.

I'm guessing they'll come down in price over the next few days. You certainly won't have any probs picking one up for around £175.

I'd suggest looking to see if there are any single tickets where the auction ends between 9-(roughly)12 on friday (ie tomorrow) morning. eBay goes down for maintenance then, and lots of people don't realise. So you get your offer in at 8.45, the site goes down, and people can't get their sniping done which drives the prices up in the closing seconds.

Like this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3611740367&category=1307) and this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2178793568&category=10049) for example.
