"The prehistoric 'tool'...."
Jul. 26th, 2005 01:42 pmThe quotes round 'tool' are a good start.
And then you come to:
"In addition to being a symbolic representation of male genitalia, it was also at times used for knapping flints,"
which I'm afraid just cracks me up. I suspect this secondary use was unintended, and not particularly welcomed by its owner. I have a vision of a German cave-dweller unable to find, or not bothered to go looking for, their Black and Decker Patented Flint Knapper and just picking up the first thing that came to hand...
(It's a BBC article. How can you ask if it's safe for work?)
In other news, Brendan had a tough commute this morning.

So - one's tool has been a... tool for millenia. That's nice to know.
(And explains that joke about it being hard enough to hammer nails in).
I'm off to lie down for a while now.
