My head of Chambers just came up to me in the library and said "you ain't seen me, roight."

The thing is, they actually meant it (they're skiving and have told the clerks they're uncontactable).

[Please note that arguing with me about the use of singular they is not a productive or amusing way of spending your time.]

Winders Court this morning. Entire court crammed with barristers in full wig and gown getup collapsing with laughter because someone spent ten minutes arguing a point before discovering he was talking about the wrong case and his one was at least half an hour further down the list.

As a profession we evidently need to get out more.

Well, I admit it was actually quite funny at the time, if you were there and understood enough about the rather technical procedure of the winding up court to appreciate what was going on...
