Friends, Interwebnettypethingdenizens, Figments of my imagination...

All it takes to cheer me up is electricity. Electricity leads to free coffee. Free coffee leads to not feeling entirely rubbish. Electricity also leads to the ability to suddenly discover you've spent half the morning on the interweb, but you can't have it all.

In truth, the large cheque I just received in payment for work I did well over a year ago is also contributing to my good humour. For the first time in approximately 12 years, I can in all seriousness think about my finances in terms of credit in my current account, rather than in terms of "how much left before I hit my specially re-re-negotiated overdraft limit". Tomorrow I have an appointment with the man who Tries to Stop Me Having Fun, who will talk about Growth and Security and say "no, Equitable Life was a one off you know". He will also probably try and teach me what a trust fund is again, too, unless he remembers what happened last time. Git. But this is all for tomorrow. Today, all I need now is free sex, free perfectlylegalintoxicants and freedom from the ramifications of the Powers of Attorney Act. Does anyone know a good dialout number?

I was going to post about something deep and serious, but nothing springs to mind. Am evidently entering my second childhood, and I'm not sure I really ever believed my first one was over.

Am reading Bramah's Kai Lung books, which I have been trying to find copies of for years and years, ever since I first read a Dorothy Sayers where they were referred to with approval. Quite right too.

Lost in Translation tonight: first time I've actually made it to the cinema this year.

I've got several Kai Lung books, or rather my dad has. I read them because of Sayers as well.

Wish I could make LiT tonight, but have parents. Hoping to see it on Saturday with Simon.

Where did you get your copies from? Oriental fantasy type stuff is always of interest to me. Which reminds me that I should read _Paper Mage_ at some point.

Strong Poison, IIRC. It's one of the reasons Peter wants Harriet to marry him, because she quotes Kai Lung at him.

Parents are not always a problem. Mine are being v helpful and amusing baby so I can eat and bathe myself.

Hope you are having fun tonight, wish I could have come.

The movie is brilliant. Really the only thing worth seeing in the last year anyway.

And there's no such thing as free sex. You always pay somehow. Still, I keep searching!
