Nov. 24th, 2003 07:02 pmHmmm. So there went the weekend.
Friday I ended up Working Late.
Saturday I shopped and then did more Working before heading off to Clique Christmas Dinner at Nou's... I was in an absolutely foul mood when I arrived, due to Weather and Work, others, notably Rob were in a decidedly cheerful mood: I gathered the vague impression that a large amount of alcohol and some rugby match or other had something to do with it. Also present: Dr D.; A.; Alan; Joff (sans Harry due to flu); Steph; K.; and the onlie begetter of this year's festivities, Katy, who can I think now fairly be described as "great" with Holly. Attending by transatlantic telephone call from NYC to a mobile phone H. Present only in spirit: Jen; Jules; and Candy. Have I forgotten someone? Hurrah for them all.
Now, people reading all of the above probably falll into three groups: those who know it perfectly well, since they were there; those who have some smidgen of an idea about the people who were there; and those who don't know and, I suspect, don't care. But I felt I had to write something. Suffice it to say I had a wonderful time, received many nice presents, and managed to get completely and utterly hammered. Hurrah for me.
Things are fairly vague thereafter until I found my way to London's famous "Central London" the next afternoon to meet the wonderful Sana, visiting this fair city from Edinburgh with her friend: had a wonderful time wandering round the British Museum with them until they were on the verge of kicking us out; and then went back to the office to, yes, of course, Work.
Today I felt shite, so I stayed at home and cleaned the flat, before watching The Italian Job on DVD (the original, obviously). I seem to have mispelled "worked on some papers" there, but no matter.
And then I came out to buy some food, only to discover I'd left my wallet at home. Aren't I a bright bunny?
ETA: Oh, something I've been meaning to mention: last Wednesday when that chap, y'know, Governor General of Her Majesty's Transatlantic Colonies, was staying in London I was prevented from concentrating on the book I was reading by a large police/military/scary people-we-wot-not-of helicopter hovering fairly close, over the western side of Regent's Park, for approximately an hour and a half. I more than half-expected to hear the Regent's Park Mosque had been raided, jumping to conclusions as I ever do, but nothing was ever made clear...
