When I got home yesterday I finally realised that I had been wearing two waistcoats (if I'm wearing a suit at all I usually wear the waistocat) all day. I am not entirely sure how this happened.

In other news, I continue to struggle with the tax return, which has to be in on Tuesday if I want those lovely Commissioners of Revenue to work out how much I owe for me. But I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that somehow I don't. Suffice it to say that the taxation of self-employed barristers is really, really complicated, unless you're happy to just waive all the deductions to which you're entitled.

(I'm also rapidly coming to the conclusion I may be in deep shite come the due date for payment on 31 Jan, but such is life. Or my life anyway.)

Do you have access to reasonably priced Chartered Accountants who can sort out your tax returns for you? (Here they charge around USD 20 for individual tax returns.)

Actually I can get my first years accounts done for nothing as a loss leader, but I was stubborn and it looked simple...

Okay, I can probably come over and give you a hand with it this weekend. And maybe even make a couple of phonecalls.

If you'd rather work it out rather than ask the taxman to do so, then we can both learn the joy of capital allowances together since this is the one bit of the tax form I can't do by myself.

Quite right too, that's the only way to make suits sexy.

I *think* it wasn't very evident. The top one was the correct one and is quite high cut. 'Twas the result of a conclusion that hanging both suitsd on one hanger was better than hanging one on the floor and my usual morning haze. (Usually I keep one suit in Chambers and change there if I need it, by which time I'm more awake, but due to holidays, dry cleaning, and building works this cunning plan has been disrupted.)
