Jul. 24th, 2003 04:40 pmHo hum. Directions hearing in the Chancery Division that started late and went on later... won some bits, lost one bit, one bit adjourned, rest agreed.
It's very noticeable that the "new" (1960s?) bit of the RCJ is deteriorating rapidly and looks shabby and dated while the grand Victorian Gothic edifice that forms the main block looks better, is in much better condition, and is far more suited to its purpose. No surprises there then. I'm a huge fan of the main building anyway, I think it's one of the three greatest Victorian Gothic buildings in the country, the others being the Great Midland Hotel (St Pancras) and the Houses of Parliament.
Heigh ho. Onto the next thing, which is apparently urgent. Might have helped had they said that when they instructed me.
I'm still unable to find anything interesting to read. This is disturbing. And also dangerous, as it is likely to lead to an expensive time in Foyles in the near future, and that will inevitably end up being a random quest costing me a lot. In the meantime, I'm bored, and suffering an attack of the loneliness/single blues again, so I'll shut up rather than bore you further. Instead I shall go drink with the redoubtable Clanwilliam.

Date: 2003-07-24 03:54 pm (UTC)They should all know the joy of "Wicked Uncle Marcus" - and you hereby have notice of being booked as godfather for one of them.
This, I should like to add, is not a compelling reason to have children, but merely a wonderful bonus.
Also, having watched you at the bar, ordering drinks, I have realised that you share certain characteristics with Lord Peter Wimsey (this *is* a compliment, btw). I realised that you stand at the bar in a way that he would, had the Duchess and Bunter allowed him to do so. I suspect Harriet occasionally wishes that he did.
And I'd better stop before I get into a situation that involves long, complicated explanations, because I am horribly drunk. Oh, and the people sharing a table with us were delightful, so I stayed until closing time.

Date: 2003-07-25 05:37 am (UTC)I hope I'm quite a good godfather, albeit one likely to lead godchildren into a variety of heresies...
Hope the head isn't too bad today. Mine was ok, but I really didn't feel like work today.
