Jul. 20th, 2003 04:33 pmWent to see some old friends I don't see nearly enough of last night and stayed over. It's strange how London inertia can set so hard a half hour train journey seems eversofar to go to see even your closest friends: I really ought to make the effort more often.
Their near-one-year-old is fantastic, almost enough to make me broody. Almost I say. Since there are a couple of minor technical hurdles to overcome before I can think about unleashing progeny on the world, mainly the fact that it takes two to tango, this is probably a good thing.
Mostly they're no fun until they're about 6 I reckon, anyway.
I'm now having to work on a Sunday afternoon. I'm in court every day next week until Friday (and even that might get filled up unless I remember to ask the clerks to give me a break. Why did no one tell me this job would destroy anything resembling a social life.
Oh yes, they did.
(It isn't true anyway, I have plenty of free time, it's just that my life falls into manic periods of work lasting a couple of weeks and then deafening silence, whereupon I get to worry about the lack of money coming in, rather than striking a happy medium. Which is, after all, a cruel thing to do. Sorry, dreadful weak pun I know, but it's obligatory.)
