I'm sceptical about the communities actually. I think that's something email and usenet are blatantly, inherently, better at. For one thing, when I see a collapsed thread in comments I just give up on it. One of the good things about here is that it takes so much less work than the list, and one has more control over it. I just don't have the time the list needs anymore, and frankly have to block delete regularly, here enables me to keep in touch with the people I've come to know there more easily. The more people who do come over... I'm working on Simon and Duncan, and Roxanne expressed an interest, the better. In the long run, I think that if a lot of the old core comes over, and with the CDR for a different kind of post, then the way the list's dynamic works may change quite a lot.
i think you're right about the dynamic changing a lot. i can certainly start to see the changes already. granted, the list traffic has picked up quite a bit lately, but there is still a degree of overlap here and there.
i might just send roxanne an invite code. just to see what she does with it.
I'd agree the dynamics would probably change, but I have to say I don't think it would be for the better. But we'll see how it goes. The only constant is change, although I forget who said it.
