Feb. 3rd, 2004 02:47 pmStill not feeling too hot, but mainly better, enough that I'm off out for a drink tonight. I'm in the middle of writing, in a desultory way, a post about the odd wastelands of London-just-inside-the-M25, partly inspired by a half-watched newsnight article last night and partly by a train journey to Romford for a hearing this morning, but I haven't finished it yet.
Re-run of the best-ever Coupling episode last night ("In every possible way... gotcha etc.") New, and final, series soon, hopefully.
In the meantime, and despite my feeling that the BBC did make mistakes in the Kelly affair, I am for once going to join in with something and add that...

Date: 2004-02-03 07:25 am (UTC)I don't see the problem in on the one hand acknowledging that with hindsight that story could have been run better and yet on the other saying that one continues to believe that in the main the BBC is an institution worth preserving and one that did not deserve the level of condemnation it received from Hutton.
Nor, so far as I am aware, is it correct to say that the BBC "lied". And finally the implication of a direct causal link to Kelly's suicide is too far a bridge to jump. Kelly killed himself and none of us will ever be able to say exactly why.
