"Working At Home"

Sometimes when I work at home I actually, y'know, do work. At home.

Other times I don't precisely work but nevertheless do productive things, such as tidy the flat, or do my accounts.

And then there are the days, like today, when I'm supposed to be reading the Law Commission report on Partnerships.

I think some of those pictures aren't straight. Maybe I should do something about that before doing any work.

The only reason I am relatively well-informed about politics is because I often work from home (like today), and we have broadband. Which, you know, is more attractive than writing sodding thesis corrections.

Actually, one reason I really do work at home a lot is that I have full-on cable broadband here, which is extremely useful when doing legal research. It's just that legal research can be terminally dull.

I get a lot of genuine work done at home for the exact same reason (that and not having students knocking on the door every five minutes). But, as you point out, it is mightily dull.

I'm now so bored that I'm checking my former addresses in the Oxford DNB to see who lived there in the past. 142 Walton Street was the home of a former vicar of the University Church. Who'd have thought? (This, or at least the inherent amusement, will be opaque to all of you but the usual suspects.)

You never quite got round to it? Heh. I only learnt about him a few days ago from LJ: The Great Educator. How much would your average Catholic know about patron saints, anyway?

Depends what kind of group of catholics they fall into. Much less this generation, but the older you get, at least among women, the more likely a devout catholic would be to know the calendar backwards. At least of the pre-JPII saints (JPII has made huge numbers of saints)

argh. at least when I'm working from home, I'm usually using google image search to trawl for pretty pictures (neo-classicism now, rococo this afternoon)

I often end up getting _more_ done when I'm at home.

This is in between wandering around, picking CDs, making tea, and noodling on the guitar. And yet, productivity increases.
