OK, I'm being terribly unfair. It probably is entirely sensible. And I think Megarry took the entire court off to the Pacific in the course of Tito v. Waddell (no 2). Even so, I find it funny.

Trip to Cuba aside I'd like to see some of them actually reap some reward for the music which others have milked mightily. Cuba is desperately poor even by poorer latin standards. A few of the older Irakere players were in Brighton recently, colleague went and said they just rocked. I've only seen a few of them live, would love to see more but its amazing how little they received for their work if only on account of the influence they have had.

From my fairly dim understanding of the case (I'm not following it with a professional eye) that point is one of the core arguments of the the Claimant, the Cuban state recording company. I know very little about the merits, and about what actually happened to the money from the film and the album.

I discovered today that there are a bunch of spinoff albums after the original, each following one of the performers.
