I came in solely because I've been landed with a case at very short notice and needed to pick up the brief, which is... unpromising. Can't win 'em all and suchlike clichés, I suppose.

Yesterday I donned my long black woollen coat for the first time since early spring, today I actually added a scarf and am regretting not adding gloves. Yes it really is that bad.

I bought myself Arthur the King, Allan Massie, as my birthday present to me. I'm currently about halfway through it and it's well up to expectations. I'm vaguely surprised to find it is still possible to produce an original take on the Arthur mythos.

Oh, and moving on from that it appears I am indeed 31. Muted joy, or something. Lots of post this morning. Thanks for all good wishes etc.
