Police call for more "instant justice" powers. Via Eddie on an email list, describing it with some accuracy as "Report calls for police to be more like Judge Dredd".

Craig Murray on last week's terrorist alarms: "Be very, very, sceptical."

Chicken Yoghurt on the historical revisionism implicit in John Reid's recent speech.

Interesting reading. That's the first time I have heard about the suspects not having passports. A little digging suggests http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14320452/ as a reliable source on this. Though I have no doubt fake passports could be gained easily enough. Is Mr Murray always such an abrasive writer?

Clearly the answer to the low conviction rate for terrorists is to give the police more powers to administer "instant justice", presumably of the kind Mr. Reid employed at Stirling.

Interesting to read Murray on "terror bomb plot". I doubt anyone will end up in court - it doesn't seem to be the way "terrorsits" are dealt with.

The stronger powers for policy to deliver summary justice I heard about on the news this morning. Whatever happened to the courts? Perhaps it is the police (or Crown Prosecution Office?) failure to gain convictions that is the real driver?
