Government to target crime at birth. Literally. In fact before birth, focussing on midwives identifying "chaotic" families. Hang on, I have a chaotic family... As The Register puts it:

Systems built on junk science sharing junk data in pursuit of imaginary concerns and a pre-defined criminal underclass, while the rest of us hide. Welcome to virtual reality social work, welcome to Project Blair.

Yes, I was pleased to see the extension of ASBOs to serious economic crime though. Banning Lord Levy from speaking to anyone with an income of more than 20,000/year should be an effective crime prevention measure.

I can't think of anything more likely to make people a failure than to brand them one at birth.

*sigh* I think in translation this means "oops, we cut back so far on the health visitor service that the system doesn't work any more".

In answer to your post title: YES. I don't really trust myself to say much more on it though. Asides from wanting whoever came up with that particular insanity to get a swift kick in the head.

Gosh... do you think Bush and cronies will add this to the neo-con agenda? Seems like it would work well over here too... non republicans and anyone with minimal finances could be suspect...

Sure, why not just round them all up and move them to compounds... wouldn't it just make it a whole lot easier...

But good to hear that insanity isn't strictly limited to the US these days... :-p

mate, they've been mental for years, I'd argue trhis govt's jump the shark moment was Blair's '45 mins to doomsday' speech justifying the Iraq genocide.
