It came up, it suddenly occurred to me to wonder if many people would actually recognise the name. At the time it was a major story, and it was arguably a defining moment in the end of an era, thus making it into a stanza of American Pie.

I have seen the movie Gimme Shelter, which features the Altamont concert. It is a very frightening film - suffused with fear.
