Isn't it grand in Afghanistan now the awful Taliban aren't in charge...?

An Afghan man is being tried in a court in the capital, Kabul, for converting from Islam to Christianity.

Abdul Rahman is charged with rejecting Islam and could face the death sentence under Sharia law unless he recants.

Therefore the BBC report and the wide general media coverage of the story was false? Whether he's genuine or not seems rather irrelevant to the point.

"Irrelevant" in the sense that the article exists and the event described happened, sure. But the fact that his identity is fraudulent, and that that fraudulent identity is the central theme of his blog, makes all of his commentary about the event suspect. If he's going to lie about his identity, what _else_ is he lying about?

Also, he has a bad habit of editing people's comments (http://chaotic-nipple.livejournal.com/132036.html), which doesn't exactly demonstrate a high regard for the truth, IMO.
