Strange Meetings

I wandered over to Soho for lunch, mainly because I wanted to buy coffee beans on the way back.

As I walked down Greek Street, I passed the always-open doorway opening onto a flight of stairs next to the betting shop, with if I remember rightly a card bearing an arrow pointing to the dubious delights of "Monique" or some such just inside the door. And a rather fat man came out, buckling his trousers.

"Ooh, I'm a good fucker, man," he felt the need to tell me, with joy.

"Congratulations," I said. And we went our separate ways.

In other news the Radio 5 Live Sports Extra audio stream is continuing to be flaky. Heigh ho. Maybe I should try the Radio 4 LW one.

ETA: There's a rumour going round of a news report that the ravens have left the Tower. I can't find it and am pretty sure this is bollocks though.

I can see why people would relaunch that rumour around now, but really, it's rubbish. Don't the ravens have their wings clipped, anyway? Unfortunately, the webcam that used to cover the Tower isn't running any more, so I can't offer you actual proof to present to anyone.

I was certainly under the impression their wings were clipped. Which would mean it was a Very Strong Omen if true. Reckon it was a wind up.

Also, Radio 5 Live is available in London on 693 and 909kHz using a thing called a 'radio', which is often more effective than streaming stuff over the Internet. The Brookmans Park transmitter (909kHz, IIRC) is at your service..

Incidentally Radio 5 Live isn't the relevant station anyway. TMS is on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra and Radio 4 LW, though the latter cuts away from time to time.

The tower ravens protect England, and London from disaster, according to possibly very ancient superstition (possibly connected with the celtic legend found in the mabinogion that Bran (means raven) mythical king/?god? of the British had his head buried on tower hill)

Not quite: they do their stuff by staying where they are. If they go England is in peril. Which is why their wings are clipped and they get a crown stipend.
