Time to Start the Re-Read at Last

A Feast for Crows is done

[...] our approach will produce two novels taking place simultaneously, but set hundreds or even thousands of miles apart, and involving different casts of characters (with some overlap).

The division has been done, and it think it works quite well. The upshot is, A FEAST FOR CROWS is now moving into production. It is still a long book, but not too long; about the same size as A GAME OF THRONES. The focus in FEAST will be on Westeros, King's Landing, the riverlands, Dorne, and the Iron Islands. More than that I won't say.

Meanwhile, all the characters and stories removed from FEAST are moving right into A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, which will focus on events in the east and north. All the chapters I have not yet finished and/or begun are moving into DANCE.

Superb.

Unfortunately A Game of Thrones is at the bottom of a very large pile of books.

I have no idea where my copies are. I'm trying to decide between borrowing or buying new ones. I'll probably buy them. Will one reread be enough? I ask myself.

My answer to that is a no. So one re-read this year, another next year, after I get my hands on the Feast.

I have actually started ... oh god, there's all that Awful Sansa stuff ahead...
But it's a sequence that bears re-reading more thna once I find, at least at this stage. Re-reading the early stuff from various POVs after you've realised that Past History May Not Be What They Say It Was is quite revealing. Particularly the very early hints that Ned Stark has never told everything he knows about the relationship between his sister and Rhaegar.

I have hunted out the books but have to finish Denton's _Buddy Holly_ before I start the re-read. Luckily enough, I don't remember too many details, so the re-read ought to be *great* . Heee!
