Hurrah for finding it intact. And what a relief. My mother lost my grandmother's wedding ring and was desparately upset for months. It turned up six months later in the inside pocket of a weekend bag, which she swears that she never used. Perhaps these valuable things have a sense of self-preservation, so that they hide to avoid worse things happening to them (being run over by a car, or being taken from you in a mugging).
