Dec. 19th, 2003 02:20 pmSooo. I am, barring some emergency hearing cropping up, which is tolerably unlikely now, done and dusted at work. The only semi-professional obligation left is tonight's Chamber's Christmas Party, which I hope will not last too long as I'm planning to go and drink with those of the Culture London Faction who are around: Steve, Martin, Lal and others.
Where the situation is really not looking as rosy is the difficult field of Christmas Presents. The real problems are Brothers In Law and Smaller Children (eldest niece is easy: she reads as voraciously as I did at her age and I have taken it upon myself to introduce her to the finer points of children's literature, pompous git that I am). My siblings I know, for better or worse. My siblings-in-law remain a closed book to me: I find it very difficult to understand what they might like, still less to achieve the ideal of finding a present that also relates to something we have in common.
Ah well. There's time yet. I'm not off to the wilds of Hampshire until Christmas Eve morning, save for dashing down to Winchester tomorrow and then coming straight back. Not that I have to any more, as such -my plans were formulated at a time when I thought I had a hearing Tuesday morning (hurrah: repossess a home two days before Christmas, how lovely) but it went away. But in the meantime I'd arranged to drink with friends I rarely see on Monday, and to see RotK on Tuesday.
In other news, I actually don't have a hangover today, though I did go drinking with K last night, but I do have a cold. Hold the front page.
