Nov. 27th, 2003 06:06 pmYes, I'm still alive...
Um. And that's about all I have to say at present. I've been in Bury St Edmunds all day on a trial. No, scratch that. I've been on sodding non-connecting, late-running trains all day: I was actually there for less than three hours. My apologies to Hannah for coming over all responsible and deciding to go back to work rather than stay until she was free, but I have a scary amount on at present. Hence the non-posting and limited commenting.
There was one great benefit that made today worthwhile: as we came into London the sun was auditioning for the part of "the Sun" in a Turner, and doing so very well.... Pinks and reds and golden haze.. fantastic. But I now have a headache, and despite the inherent contradiction, want a drink.
Which is precisely what I intend to do, as H is making a fleeting visit back from NYC...

Waddling in
Date: 2003-11-27 07:00 pm (UTC)It's lovely to see you're still here... not that I expected you to go away or anything...
Knowing that life in general continues on while I languish on the side lines gives me hope... not much, but some.
I just returned from my [daylight] drive [can't drive at night, night blindness] to our [partial] family Thanksgiving get together [fully 2 branches were not represented] where I finally caught up with Lauren. [She had made the drive up from LA last night]... and In true Aunti fashion, I nagged her about corresponding with you and Camilla...
She was properly repentant and made good excuses... really really meaning to, life and work being what there are... but just not getting to it yet...
Hmmmm, sorta sounds like my own pitiful excuses...
Anyway... She told me all about her visit to your fair isle [she forgot the photos dammit] and how much she enjoyed it and what a brilliant and extraordinary person you were.
Since I doubt she would be so bold as to actually say that *to* you, I'm doing it for her ... one of the [very few] perks of the aged; saying whatever the hell you wanna say... and I intend to [im]mature into a really annoying old woman... yay me!!
She also filled me in on her horrendous midge adventure in the wilds of Scotland. She was quite some time recovering from the double knock out punch of insect bites and medication to treat them. She still has faint pink spots on her neck from their carnivorous assaults... poor child... Camilla was witness to her devastation...
The Great Midge Adventure, known hereafter as TGMA... has been a topic of great interest here in the states where the mighty midge is virtually unknown... so when TGMA is introduced into conversation, her being attacked by tiny black midges has been mistakenly understood as tiny black ~midgets~... startling many a listener ....
Otherwise, all is well in the land of sloth and over indulgence...
Oh, perhaps one tiny little wafer-thin mint...
