So.. it seems there is a good chance that central London will be shut down and protests will be heavily policed and limited when Dubya comes to stay next week.

Now, part of me is saying sage things about serious curtailment of civil liberties, the right of free assembly and the rest. And those are indeed things in which I believe, very deeply.

But the far louder voice is the one that says that if that fucker makes my working day any more difficult than it is already while he's here, I shan't be responsible for my actions.

Does that make me a bad person?

Nope.

Or, at the very least, I'm worse. During the wave of anti-war protests in March, I became very surly that masses of peacemongers were keeping me from my veryexpensivehairsalon appointment.

But I gave up on a soul awhile back. I justify it by saying that there is no political opinion with which I can reasonably agree, but, really, it's just an excuse to keep my head in the sand and my concerns totally self-involved.

No, of course not. Heck, I was incredibly incensed when he made an appearance at the military installation around the corner from my home which backed traffic up so badly I was late to class.

No, Marcus, I love you as you are. You would be a bad person if you were PRO-Bush---then I'd have to divorce you. Did you read the article about George Soros, one of the richest men in the world, and his personal goal of ousting Bush in 2004?

I'm not sure whether it makes you a bad person. But your resorting to the vernacular certainly made me laugh out loud.

BTW, did you get that phone number yet?

Chop chop then. If you're not careful I'll get Ro to dig it out, and ring her for you ;-)

BTW, are you around in London on the w/e of the 6th December? I'm coming down, so beers/Jamesons may be in order.

Nah, I agree with you. That and I read on a CNN snipet that B. Palace has denied Dubya's request for more security.

hey there, got to your journal through ljmap.
i had to respond to this post, b/c it made me chuckle.

why blame the actions of the protesters' on dubya?
why not on the queen who invited him here?
better yet, why not on the protesters themselves?

interesting notion of responsibility. ;)

very good points.
all taken.
:)
someone in my program said there were more people on security here than troops in iraq - although i don't know if i should believe that. (do you know if that's true?)

i guess i get defensive re. bush.
i'm ashamed to admit it, but i AM a dubya-sympathizer. i just don't understand why there's so much animosty against him. but then again, i don't keep up to date on current events. although, when you press most ppl for an explanation as to why he is so "stupid" or why his is the "#1 terrorist" you never get an objective, reasonable answer back - just more name calling or something, and that kind of intense emotionalism always kind of throws me.
