I received my first death threat this morning, from a defendant against whom I'd been successful. Ex-policeman built a la brick shithouse.

I feel so proud.

I'm not actually too bothered about it, though it does occur to me that it would be trivially easy for someone with friends who have access to NCIS, the PNC and the full electoral register to hunt me down...

Plus I had to take a remarkably expensive mini-cab to reach court due to the steenking Northern line. Cabbie offered to write a receipt for 150 percent of the fare, but I'm honest as the day is long me.

I guess you have to file a report on each threat, yes?

Christ. I wouldn't worry too much (oh, you said you aren't) - IME people who *say* they're going to get you aren't the ones you have to worry about.

What a tit, however.

You are *joking*?! Which part of the city does he live in again, I'm not sure if you ever told me?

Man, that's harsh.

I think your version sounds more likely. Very bold though.

Sympathies to him, anyway.

I had a friend who used to live in the Radford area of Nottingham. Once he caught his nextdoor neighbour breaking in.

*giggles*

I like the term. Is it considered terribly impolite or just moderately impolite?

True, it is an honestly earned threat. This might be the right to mention that I have received 2 death threats and 5 kidnapping threats due to my *own* actions.... :)

It's trivially easy to hunt most people down. With big pointy sticks!

You haven't really made it in the world until you've received your first death threat. Congratulations!

Proud indeed. Everyone should be SOMEONE's personal Antichrist. Bravo!

But do watch your back in the dark, sir. People is crazy, you know. And the people that hurt other people actually are the ones who say they will ...

Holy shit

Death threats, no matter what form they come in, are still distinctly out of your normal everyday existence don't you think? I mean, is this guy out of custody? What was he charged/sentenced for? ... and, do you take cases for both prosecution *and* defense in Brit law?

Here in California the Court Judges, Family law and Prosecuting attorneys [we call ours District Attorneys] getting the most death/bomb threats... we Public Defenders [Court appointed indigent defense attorneys] rarely get them... except for one of our former nearly inept attorneys... whose client personalized his distaste by attaching a bomb to said attorney's car, necessitating the evacuation of our parking lot... no kaboom...

The only other scare we had was when one of our clients was let into the main office [by a silly silly clerk whom I scolded later] even though he had been waving his knife around in the waiting room...

By the time the local gendarmes arrived to take said client into custody I was in the midst of a smashing migraine and [amazingly] convinced them to take our [closed head injured] client to a mental health holding facility as opposed to the general population lock up because he really wasn't dangerous... well, except for the knife thing...

I'm not at all a fan of threats, real, pretend or perceived... and I'd be interested in what the ex-policeman's mates think of him... before I got [even more] worried...

I agree with previous admonishments... Watch yer Back!

love, aunti v

As Marcus said, with the addition that when I asked for a definition of the term, IIRC Rik added that they normally wear baseball caps *balanced* on top of their heads.
