I am probably less than two thirds through my working day, for reasons to which I shall come later...
First off, we had a fire drill this morning, it seems to be the season for it, and since the person who normally does it was elsewhere, I was appointed Deputy Dawg in charge of the basement.
Unfortunately, no one in our basement, including me, actually heard the fire alarm. Ooops. Apparently we are now all charred to cinders.

Around 4, a new set of instructions arrived. After taking one look at it and blinking, I decided I was going to have to quadruple my already quite scarily large personal insurance to take on the job, and wasn't keen on paying for that exercise myself.
Once that was sorted out, they said "oh, can we have advice by 3 tomorrow?"
Once I'd picked myself off the floor and stopped swearing, and my clerks had made a few negotiations, we managed to compromise on prelim. telephone advice by 4 and a written opinion the next day. Even so, it looks like I'm going to be working well into the wee hours. Bah. Soddit though, I'm taking it home rather than staying on here.

I'm not really complaining. Major stuff like this doesn't grow on trees, does pay well, and I'm incredibly lucky to be getting it at my stage. I'm just griping...

Current music.. well, I like it. As Rob said a while back when first playing it to me, she steals stuff left right and centre (I still expect Underneath your clothes to turn into the Bangles Eternal Flame every time I hear it) but she steals good stuff (I like the Bangles, OK).
Nevertheless, I am somewhat perturbed by the line "Lucky that my breasts are small and humble/So you don't confuse them with mountains." The only response, surely, is "Um... yes."
The best stuff on the limited version of the album I have, though, is the alternative versions at the end. Particularly the version of Whenever, Wherever using the traditional music of her two cultures, the Lebanon and South America. That genuinely is quite original, and, perhaps surprisingly, works.
Having said that, I can never hear Andean pipes without being irresistibly reminded of the running sketch someone did (Fast Show or something sub-Fast Show?) with the Andean band who magically appeared in every town square, wherever it was.
In other news, I have paid the last installment for the Greek villa. Hurrah. And Scorchio!, at least at present, it would seem on a quick google.

Don't suppose I could get a copy of Shakira off you at some point?

Still need to do book-swapping - are you around on Sunday?
