Channel hopping this evening we came across a programme about this. Really quite, quite staggeringly full of Wrongness.

At some point I shall have enough round tuits to write a post about Pashazade and my travels, promise. In the meantime an unedited, uncommented collection of photos is here. for incurable masochists. Be warned, quite a large proportion of them is "pretty scenes out the window of a 35 hour train journey across Turkey and Syria".

So naturally my eye was drawn straight to the picture with the Armenian inscription. Where was it taken?

I think that's the Armenian church in Aleppo (there's a large Armenian community there, possibly something to do with it being the first place you come to when you run from SW Turkey to the south).

Having said that, the pics would have made me unutterably homesick for Istanbul, except for the fact that Lady P looks so happy and relaxed that it is hard to get maudlin.
