Apologies, again, for the length of this reply, but there is a good reason for my concern, and I will state it again. Although, since I've just gone over the character limit, that will have to be in a separate post. A government does not become illegitamate by doing something you disagree with, or even by doing something a great many people disagree with. I loathed, despised, hated and detested the Thatcher government of the 70's and 80's. I hadn't voted for it, my country (Scotland) hadn't voted for it, and large sections of the UK hadn't voted for it. I joined protest groups, went to demos, signed petitions and got charged by police horses, but I never suggested that they weren't the lawful government. Because if I had, and had managed to overthrow them by force, by revolution, or by any way but the ballot box, I'd have lived the rest of my life in this country knowing that the same thing could happen any time, to any future government. And that isn't the sort of country I want to live in.
