I've just spent ten minutes paging through the Amazon reviews for Anne Rice's latest looking for her notorious rant (unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any capability to link directly).

And highly amusing it all is. But they all seem to have missed what, to me, is the obvious point.

Anne Rice is shit. She has always been shit.

The end.

I enjoyed _The Mummy_, but other than that, I agree with you.

I have to say NOOOOOO to that book, sorry!

It made me want to stab my eyes with a fork.

Her ideas about the cost of immortal life are interesting in the Vampire series but she is no gifted writer.

*g*

I never found her a gifted writer but I do like Ramses, and I kept on wondering how Bheeshma would react to modern life, and how we'd react if he'd come back today. It made the book worthwhile for me. :)

Huh?

What notorious rant? She's given to ranting on Amazon about her own books??

Sorry, followed link, understand now. "For me, novel writing is a virtuoso performance", eh? Dear dear dear.

Thanks for link, have propogated. And yes, she is. She has good ideas, she just can't get them right.

I've been unable to read Rice since Memnoch the Devil (or whatever its name was). I've been picking up and leaving aside her books ever since. Some good ideas yet, buttotally deteriorating writing style and incredibly boring, self-centred, annying characters.
