In an echo of a post Joff wrote some time ago, on my way home I was passed in Lincoln's Inn by Darth Vader and a storm trooper. But both of them were wearing, along with the appropriate stuff, t-shirts emblazoned with the name and logo of a Top Chancery Set.

The point that really gave me pause was the fact that Top Chancery Sets are now expected to have their own t-shirts. I know Denton Wilde Sapte, or whatever they are these days, have their own fleeces but this is ridiculous. Should I raise the matter in the forthcoming Chambers AGM? After all, we want to keep up.

I am procrastinating. Apparently-not-at-all bad Azerbaijan Airways 9th to 16th August 185.60 quid incl. taxes or 10th to 17th with BA, 198.80 quid incl. taxes? Am I being bonkers in wanting to go with the Azerbaijanis not for the sake of 15 quid but for the romance of it, and despite the fact that different flight times mean I'll have almost a day less there?

I'm afriad to ask what TCS might be, in case the answer is along the Delta Beta Kappa line.

Especially becuase Joff's stormtrooper seems to have no arms.

And purely due to much buggery being currently played by Aeroflot on my flatmate's tickets, I'd say sod the 'picturesque' and go for the 'actually likely to get you there on some sort of a reliable basis'.

I say if you are going to have a sense of humour about the travelling and are going to have fun, no matter what gets thrown at you, take the risk. These are the things you remember for a lifetime!

I have visions of you doing your finest Obi Wan impression saying 'these aren't the jurors you're looking for' or such like. Maybe a jedi mind trick is a useful asset in a courtroom - at the very least, it should give you some leeway with the judge. Just don't turn up dressed as a stormtrooper....

You mean in the bottom picture? Aha. That's because he's doing the International Gesture for Rebel Scum. Otherwise known as flipping the finger. Well, would you expect maturity from a grown man in a space soldier outfit?

Have you factored in the nifty sleep mask and groovy flight socks you get with BA?

All the way with BA?

Aha! I take it this is the comment of which you spoke? I have now read it, and shall chisel those dates into my itinerary under [livejournal.com profile] liadnan Lurks Among The Turks. Could work quite well in my own schedule - I could do my London lingering from the 4th to the 10th or 11th, nip over to Istanbul and join you for a few days(leaving unnecessary luggage with kindly London friends) while seeking an appropriate way of getting to Cappadocia and spending a week there or so, then fly back to the UK around the 22nd or so, all tanned and Turkified for my Celtic capers.

(Further musing: All this communicating by LJ comment is well and good, but perhaps some emailing would be sensible if we are to coordinate this. You have an LJ email account, IIRC... will email you today)

Well I just committed the unutterable foolishness of booking for 9-19 August. You had damn well better be there for some of that time. (Air France, because KLM's offer turned out not to actually have any return flights available. The Air France one almost didn't, thus the really long time there.)

Yay!

Now I will finish the term, and then start thinking about logistics.
