Hmm. You can probably wear shorts and a T shirt in May and be fine actually - NY not london you know, average May temp is about 20 degrees. Swimming in the Hudson never a good idea, one goes to the rooftop pool at the top of the hotel Gansevoort to do that.

If I could winter abroad I would love Scotland so much more.

Wintering in New Zealand would be pretty good - that way, you would get their summer followed by Scotland's.

But the snow in Edinburgh has been pretty good - where I am it is lying, and just catching the light from the setting sun.

I think the snow is pretty but I have no love of being out in it!
